These instructions assume that the following steps are completed:

Deploy Customized Meta-Database File
...
Save your meta-database file (.nlk extension) on the hard drive of your NLINK Server machine. Make a note of its location.
Set Active Meta-Database
Start the NLINK Management Module (NMM). Select the Server node in the navigation tree and you will see the full path and filename of the current meta-database file in the Server Status window.
Right-click the Server node and choose Select Meta-Database. Navigate to your meta-database file and select it.
Note |
---|
If option “Select Meta-Database” is grayed out, make sure the NLINK Server is not running. On Windows 2008 ServerOS, NMM must be running with Administrator privilege. |
Check NLINK Environment Constants
After setting the Active Meta-Database, select Edit >> Environment Constants from the NMM Menu to check the values of the NLINK Environment Constants. Some values may be defaulted in for you. Any new Constants will be shown in red until you fill in the value the first time.
The values that you set here are saved to the installation directory, so in most cases you will not need to make any changes, but it is a good habit to check when installing a new meta-database.
Check NLINK System Properties
After setting the Active Meta-Database, select Edit >> System Properties from the NMM menu to check the values of the NLINK System Properties. In particular, pay attention to the settings for Create Dump File, Debug Level and Run Scheduled Events, as you may prefer different settings in different environments (e.g., development vs production).
The values that you set here are saved to the meta-database file, so it is very important to check these every time you install a new meta-database.
Check ADC Menu Groups
After setting the Active Meta-Database, select Edit >> ADC Menu Groups from the NMM menu to check the setup of the ADC Menu Groups. See more about the ADC Menu Groups here.
The values that you set here are saved to the installation directory, so in most cases you will not need to make any changes. The primary exception would be if the new meta-database contains new Transactions that you want to make available to your users.
Another way to handle changes to the ADC Menu Groups is to copy the ADC5 Menu Groups.xml file from a known-good installation environments (e.g., your QA system). This file should be placed in the Config directory under your NLINK installation directory. (You can find your installation directory by choosing Options >> Go to Installation Folder from the NMM menu.) Be sure to keep a backup of any existing file so you can revert the changes if necessary.
