Follow these steps to install the NLINK Mobile Application used to access ADC screens on connected device without downloading application from any Mobile Device Management toolwithout using Enterprise Mobility Management tools

Mobile Device Prerequisites

  1. Running The device must be running Android 4.4 (Kitkat) or later.
  2. Is The device must be connected to a wireless network and can reach .
  3. The device must be able to reach the NLINK Server machine via port 9812.

Download NLINK Mobile Application 

  1. From a browser on the device, type in enter the following URL

    http://[NLINKHOST]:9812/adc5.html

    where [NLINKHOST] is the name, or IP Address, of the machine where NLINK is installed and running.

  2. A page with NLINK Mobile download instructions will be rendered.

  3. Click on the link to download the application. When the download has finished, click the resultant download to launch the application install. (Presentation may vary depending on the browser.)
    1. If the application download screen disappears, the downloads can be found in the Downloads application. Look for the NLINK Application.apk download.

  4. Install the application.
    1. When trying to install the application if you see following warning, it is because a warning may appear offering to block the installation. This is because the app was not downloaded from a known secure place, (e.g. Google Play").

      To get around the issue, you will have to change the Security settings on the device. 
        Open application "Settings" and goto "Security"
      1. Either click the Settings button in the warning message, or open application Settings and go to the Security option.

      2. In "the Security "settings, check the box called "Unknown sources". Once When you select the this option. you will get a warning, press ". Click OK " on the warning message.
    2. Once the install starts, another message appears describing the access required by the NLINK Mobile application requires : access to disk and the disk/SD card, access to the wireless network, and also Bluetooth , So in following screen press "Install"(which will be used only if the device needs to connect to an external scanner).
      Click Install to proceed.

Setting up the application

After NLINK Mobile Once the application is installed on device, first step is to register device and download configuration.

  1. Make sure device is connected to wireless network
  2. Start NLINK Mobile application by selecting application "NLINK Mobile"

  3. In the window that is displayed
    1. For NLINK Host enter [NLINKHOST] which is machine name or IP Address of the machine where NLINK is installed and running along with port configured for ADC5. Default port is 9812.
    2. For Password enter the NLINK Mobile administrator password as configured in your meta-database. Default value is “password” (all lower case)

  4. Press the OK button
  5. Once the setup is successful you will see following window to logon. Enter the credentials you use to logon to NLINK (depending on authentication used, it can be Windows domain or SAP logon)

  6. Once proper credentials are entered and authenticated, depending configuration, ADC menu screen will be displayed

Known Issue

If the devices loses connection to network in middle posting,in some cases  multiple messages are displayed. All indicate lack of network connection
