Moving from NLINK 7x to NLINK 8x
The NLINK Server 8.x now includes two additional modules:
NLINK Manager is a Windows Service that performs various maintenance tasks in the background
NLINK Administration Console (NAC) is an optional component that is a web-based version of the NLINK Management Module that also allows you to manage multiple NLINK Servers
We recommend using Windows Server 2019 or newer with NLINK 8x, so you may wish to set up a new environment for your upgrade.
Things to Consider Before Upgrading
It is not possible to upgrade to 8x directly from 6x. See Moving from NLINK 6x to NLINK 7x
to migrate to 7x first.
If you are using the ADC Connector, as with any upgrade you should take a backup copy of the web.config and NLINKCustom.css files.
You will be able to migrate your meta-database yourself if you have purchased the NLINK Configuration Module. Otherwise, you will need to schedule time with Junot Systems Support to migrate your meta-database for you.
Installation
To upgrade in place from 7x, first uninstall 7x.
To install 8x in a new environment, or after uninstalling 7x, run the 8x installer and follow the prompts.
You may be prompted to install various Windows components. Please allow these installations.
Install provides 3 setup option, while Typical, Compact and Custom
Both “Typical” and “Compact” will not install component like ADC Connector or NLINK Administration Console. If these are needed please select “Custom” setup type.
Custom installation has changed from previous version and will not list all other Connectors (e.g. SAP Connector or SQL Connector). All other Connectors are installed by default and will be managed with based on license.
If NLINK Manager (or NLINK Administration Console) are installed prompt to create self signed certificate or open firewall ports is displayed. This is optional step, if they are not allowed or needed then it can be skipped. Please documentation related to NLINK Manager or NLINK Administration Console for more information regarding running these scripts (or modifying them) after install.
